How can I resize a 1600 × 1200 photo to 800 pixels wide without stretching it?

Keep proportions enabled and set the width to 800 pixels. The height becomes 600 pixels.

  1. Keep the original aspect ratio.

    1600 ÷ 1200 = 4 ÷ 3. Reducing the width by half also halves the height.

  2. Choose an export format.

    JPG is useful for photos. PNG preserves transparency. Create the image, check the preview, and save a new copy.

File size depends on image content, dimensions, quality and export format. A new export is not guaranteed to be smaller.
